Wrapping Up 2024 with Gratitude & Inspiration: a look back over the year with thoughts for a creative year ahead

As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2024 and share what’s on the horizon for early 2025.

This year has been an exciting and creative journey for Lovely Letters:

  • throughout the spring: Monthly in-person workshops brought calligraphy lovers together to explore the basics and beyond. Participants also applied their new skills in creative projects, writing on household items like plant pots, mirrors, and storage boxes—perfect for personal use or heartfelt gifts. Also, I was invited to give my very first workshop presentation at the Seoul KOTESOL Chapter Spring Symposium; this experience prompted me to secure future dates which led to my busy but fulfilling autumn season.

  • over the summer: I enjoyed following tutorials from other artists to explore using art and calligraphy just for fun. Taking time to craft handmade gifts for friends is always such a pleasant experience. I love taking lessons from others, as they give me tips about new techniques faster than I could figure them out on my own.

  • from late August: I introduced monthly taster workshops at KOTESOL events, visiting cities across Korea and connecting with passionate teachers and creatives.

  • October: Lovely Letters participated in a provincial festival for foreigners, sharing calligraphy with a diverse and curious audience.

  • December: The holiday season brought back commissioned Letters from Santa and festive Christmas cards. I also painted a few special crafts as gifts for friends and colleagues, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to share some upcoming opportunities to create in 2025:

  • Online Calligraphy Course (starts January 12th): Whether you’re new to calligraphy or looking to refine your skills, this 8 week course offers a guided, interactive experience. Sign up at least 10 days in advance to ensure supplies arrive in time! Absolute beginners are always welcome.

  • Spring In-Person Calligraphy Crafting Workshops (first date: March 9th): Join me to start your lettering journey by learning calligraphy skills, practicing them in a supportive setting, and getting hands-on with fun, creative projects. A new project will be available each month! Sign up here on the website.

I'm so glad you've found my Lovely Letters. I look forward to guiding you as you explore the world of calligraphy. I look forward to continuing to share and create with you in the year ahead.
